Daily Fantasy Cricket

Daily fantasy sports (DFS) are gaining in popularity in countries like the US. Some of the contests for NFL or other popular sports allow players to win over 1 million USD for just one contest.

In some ways DFS feels like a combination of traditional sports betting and live match betting. It definitely ads to the interest of the match.

Unlike regular fantasy leagues where you select a team at the start of a season or tournament, I can select a new line-up for each match.

If I build a low scoring team one match, I can start fresh for the very next match.

There are a few sites that offer daily fantasy for cricket, but they are new and DFS for cricket isn’t as popular yet, but I can see that changing.

How Much Money Can I win?

Currently, the stakes for and prizes for daily fantasy cricket aren’t very high.

On DailyFantasyCricket.com, the prizes top out about 5,000 to 6,000 INR with entry fees of 3400 INR for 2 person contest.

Playon.co offers contests that go as high as around 200 GBP. With a 110GBP entry fee for a 2 person contest.

Both sites offer free contests as well for you to learn how it works.

Daily fantasy cricket is new and isn’t very popular yet, but I can see that changing. Like I said before, DFS is so popular in the US that the prizes available are massive.

People love to bet on cricket and daily fantasy is just another way to do it. In a lot of ways it’s more exciting. With daily fantasy, I don’t care too much who wins the match (unless of course my favorite team is playing). As long as my players do well, and I win money, I’m excited!

I build teams for matches that I would otherwise have no interest in. It allows me to watch them with the same enthusiasm as if I were watching my favorite team.

How Daily Fantasy Cricket Works

Most contests require you to build a team of 11 players from various positions. The interesting part is that you can’t just select the best players to be your team, there is a salary cap and salary values assigned to each player.

The challenge is to build the highest scoring team under the salary cap.

Players earn points based on player performance. The scoring is slightly different depending on the match type, but generally, players score points for scoring a run, catches made, wickets taken, etc.

The team with the most points wins the pot.

How to Select a Team

Choosing a team is fairly simple. After selecting a match you want to create a team for, you will be provided a list of players to choose from, along with their individual salaries and position.

You will want to pay close attention to the salary cap as you select players since you can’t make a roster that is more than the salary cap.

Keep in mind, the best team won’t always be the most expensive team. If you select a team and still have money left over, that’s OK. Simply pick the team you think will score the most points for the match.
